On November 14, 2023, the Ministry of Industry, Science, Technology, and Innovation (“MISTI”) issued two Joint Prakas Nos.: 836 and 837 on “the public service fee, including the relevant plan variety protection fees and the annuity late attendance penalty fees of patent, utility model, plan variety, and industry design” (“Joint Parkas Nos.: 836 and 837”). The Joint Prakas No. 836 is to substitute the previous Joint Prakas No. 559 dated 9 July 2020.

Joint Prakas Nos.: 836 and 837:
Joint Praka No.836 introduces the new relevant fees for plant variety protection including its annuity fee. The fees for demonstrating all services within the General Department of Industrial Property remains unchanged with the previous Joint Prakas No. 559.
Joint Prakas No. 837 includes an annuity late attendance penalty fee for patent, utility model, plan variety, and industrial design for six (06) months late payment by charging five (05) hundred riel (around USD0.12) per day.

- Changes introduces new relevant fees for plan variety protection and shorten the time that certain services are provided under the General Department of Industrial Property and enforces the annuity late attendance penalty.
