The Announcement on: The Use of National Domain Name (“.Kh”)
On 18 February 2025, The Ministry of Information (“MOI”) issued an announcement number 047 (“the announcement”) regarding the use of the national domain name (“.kh”). Media owners, associations, and organizations involved in information and audio-visual operators are encouraged to register their national domain name rather than adhering with the foreign domain name (“.com.”).
What’s New & Updated
The announcement number 047
- Announcement: on the use of national domain name (“.kh”) for media owners, organizations, and associations involved in information and audio-visual operators in accordance with regulation number 287 dated 31 December 2021 on the administration and use of domain names on the internet that required the registered legal entities with the Ministry of Commerce (“MOC”) to use the national domain name.
- Protection: to improve official online identification of natural or legal entities and to make tradenames trustworthy to consumers or business partners, particularly to make internet searches more convenient.
- The Use of National Domain Name “.kh” includes that:
- Any new business registrations in the media and audio-visual sector are encouraged to use national domain name (.”kh”);
- Businesses operating under a foreign domain name (“.com”) are required to switch to a national domain name no later than the end of 2025;
- Businesses that have been approved to operate websites but also post content on social media are encouraged to promptly reexamine the most recent information by the end of March 2025. If nothing is done, MOI will take additional measures; and
- The domain name is to be registered via this link: (https://www.domian.gov.kh/).
