Malaysia | ASIA ADR Week 2018

ZICO Law Partners Khieu Mealy and Sabarina Samadi will be panellists at the Asian International Arbitration Centre’s (AIAC) inaugural Asia ADR Week 2018, taking place on 5-7 May in Kuala Lumpur.

The three-day conference coincides with the official launch of the AIAC and will focus on the demands and needs of Asian businesses, and cover key issues including the promotion of business and investment in Malaysia, and how the ADR framework is designed to complement the expansion and growth of the commercial industry.

Mealy is a partner with ZICO Law’s Cambodian member firm SokSiphana&associates and was part of the first generation of qualified registered arbitrators at the National Commercial Arbitration Center in Cambodia. Mealy’s current work is predominantly in the areas of corporate banking, intellectual property, and real estate. She will be part of a breakout panel discussion on the first day, speaking on the topic Realigning ADR to Global Business Needs – international ADR best practices that boosts investment appetite and how they can be implemented.

She is an accredited Arbitrator under the Construction Payment and Adjucation Act 2012 (CIPAA), and will be drawing on her vast experience with construction claims consultants in reviewing issues, claims, and disputes as she joins the panel discussion on Drafting a Concrete Clad Decision – the do’s and don’ts in writing an Adjudication Decision. Sabarina is also a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators in the United Kingdom, and an Arbitrator with the Asia International Arbitration Centre (AIAC) in Kuala Lumpur.
