The Royal Government of Cambodia has announced a public holiday on 5 August 2024 to celebrate the groundbreaking of the Funan Techo Canal construction project. This project is a significant undertaking that will significantly benefit Cambodian society and the economy.

1. 5 August 2024 has been designated as an official holiday for civil servants, staff, workers/employees, and students to participate in the groundbreaking ceremony.
2. The holiday will be a paid day off for staff and workers/employees as per instructions from the Minister of Labour and Vocational Training.
3. The Minister of Education, Youth and Sport will issue further instructions to public and private educational institutions regarding the school holiday.

All ministries, institutions, and municipal/provincial administrations have been instructed to comply with this circular directive.
