Minimum Wage for 2023 has been announced

The minimum wage for the Cambodian textile, garment, footwear, travel goods, and bag industries will increase in 2023, as announced by the Ministry of Labour and Vocational Training (“MLVT“) in a recent regulation dated 21 September 2022 (Prakas No. 247/22).

This new minimum wage will take effect on 1 January 2023.

What are the changes?

Compared to the previous year’s minimum wage, 2023’s minimum wage will be an increase of USD 6.

Note that piece-rate workers who are paid on a quantity target must be paid above the minimum wage if the worker exceeds quantity targets. However, if the worker does not meet quantity targets, the worker must be paid the minimum wage.

In addition, all employment benefits currently granted to workers shall be kept the same.
