Alert from the Ministry to E-Commerce Operators to apply for E-Commerce Permit or License
On 26 May 2021, the Ministry of Commerce (“MOC”) has issued a Notification (No. 1143) calling on e-commerce operators to apply for the required E-commerce permit or license at the Business Registration Department of the MOC.
The Notification was issued pursuant to the E-Commerce Law in 2019 and subsequent regulations (Sub-Decree No. 134 and Prakas No. 290) on the necessary formalities, procedures, as well as penalties pertaining to E-commerce business operating in Cambodia.
Through this Notification, the MOC has officially confirmed that all relevant operators must by law apply for an E-commerce permit or license in accordance with the application form, conditions, and other required documents as available on MOC ’s websites. The application can be filed directly to the Department of Business Registration or online via website: www.ecommercelicensing.moc.gov.kh.
All current operators, as well as those who wish to conduct this newly regulated business, must apply for a permit or a license, or otherwise may be subjected to penalties such as the halting of business and monetary fine as stipulated in applicable law and regulations.
