In Thailand, new amendments to the country’s trademark system will bring greater efficiency to trademark owners when registering their trademark rights. Taking effect on 28 July, amendments to the Trademark Act will now allow multi-class applications, set new official fees, and shorten registration procedures and grace period for renewal. Accession to the Madrid Protocol, which would allow international trademark applications, is still pending until a separate Royal Decree is issued given an effective date.

Thailand remains one of the most important markets in ASEAN and continued efforts by the government to enhance the trademark system will attract more trademark owners to file and obtain their trademark rights.
