Cambodia Outlook Conference 2015 Brief: Harnessing the ASEAN Economic Community (AEC) for Industrial Development

Dr. Sok Siphana, Managing Partner of SokSiphana (a member of ZCOlaw) plays an active role in Cambodia’s accession into World Trade Organisation (WTO) and the integration of ASEAN Economic Community (AEC) as member of the Bar Council and an advisor to the Royal Government of Cambodia.  Dr Siphana emphasized on the effectiveness of management between the government and the private sectors and how it will foster a symbiotic relationship, where policies demanded by business are mainstreamed into industrial development strategies and ultimately growing business in the ASEAN arena.

This was demonstrated in the recent Cambodia Outlook Conference 2015 under the theme of “ASEAN Economic Community 2015 and beyond:  Our Reform Agenda”.   The conference discussed on Cambodia’s industrial sector where Cambodian businesses – both big and small – will gain preferential access to a large and growing ASEAN market, benefit from increased intra-ASEAN investment, integrate into regional production networks and move up the value-added chain. This will provide good opportunities for up and down linkages whilst stimulating a diverse array of secondary industries.
